Originally made as a jewellery box, this cabinet is a stunning and magical looking item. Made of wood (possibly rosewood) and pale jade, with brass ornaments.
Behind the twin doors there are three drawers, lined with decorative red satin. A fourth, larger drawer is below, and big enough to hold a full set of tarot cards. There would originally be a lift out drawer tray here but it is missing.
There is a hinged handle on the top and a sliding key padlock - the padlock and key are not original, I have added these, but they are sympathetic in style. On the reverse there is a makers mark saying Shanghai China.
The production date is unknown but could be as early as 1900's.
Condition - some green discolouration of the brass in places, some light scuffs and scratches to the wood, some signs of woodworm below the front doors.
Dimensions: W17cm x D13cm x H24cm (plus handle)
